Since 2014, the International IP Crime Investigators College (IIPCIC) has been celebrating excellence across the IP enforcement and protection communities around the world. Our annual awards are designed to acknowledge and reward law enforcement personnel and government agencies making a significant impact with innovative and effective approaches to fighting IP crime in this global and challenging environment.
This IIPCIC Award recognizes a law enforcement officer, team or unit for demonstrating outstanding leadership in designing or implementing a unique and innovative approach to an intellectual property crime investigation. The ideal nomination would involve a matter that crossed jurisdictions or countries and posed a risk to human health or public safety.
This IIPCIC Award recognizes an individual’s outstanding contribution to the IP community. The nominee would demonstrate the highest professional standards through innovative approaches related to training, technology, or other law enforcement capabilities.
Congratulations to the 2024 Commendation of Merit award winner! The award was presented during the during the 17th International Law Enforcement IP Crime Conference, which took take place from 23 to 25 September 2024, in Willemstad, Curaçao.

The IIPCIC Commendation of Merit is awarded annually to recognize outstanding contributions to the fight against intellectual property crime. The award is a testament to Mr Park and the Trademark Police Division of KIPO's commitment to protecting intellectual property rights and promoting a safer and more secure environment for businesses and consumers alike.
The Trademark Police Division of KIPO is the only specialized enforcement agency in South Korea dedicated to investigating trademark infringement crimes. The team has cooperated with domestic and international agencies to address large-scale cases, enhanced the response system against counterfeit goods, and raised public awareness about the importance of intellectual property protection.
To combat increasingly complex and organized IP crimes, the Trademark Police Division of KIPO will implement creative, innovative, and collaborative strategies while conducting advanced and effective investigations, highlighting the South Korea as a leader in global IP protection.
This award honours not just Mr Park and his team's efforts but also recognizes the dedication of everyone committed to intellectual property protection. In accepting the award, the Trademark Police Division of KIPO extended its heartfelt thanks to everyone who has believed in and supported their team.
Vin Lim, Administrative Officer responsible for external affairs in the Trademark Police Division of KIPO, accepted the award on behalf of Mr Park Jooyun, Head of the Trademark Police Division, and Mr. Kim Wan Ki, Commissioner of KIPO, during the 17th International Law Enforcement IP Crime Conference in Curaçao, 23-25 September 2024.
In her remarks, Ms Lim expressed gratitude to INTERPOL and the IIPCIC Award Committee for the recognition and thanked the audience for their presence. She highlighted the dedication and efforts of the investigative team, which has been fighting against trademark infringement crimes since 2010.
